Decoded 2024 Sponsorship for active community members

Hello everyone✨

  • Name: Angélica Graterol | Nickname: angelicaaaaaag

  • Lima, Peru. (America).

  • Summary of activities in the last 6 months: Over the past 6 months, I have been actively engaged as a Polkadot member, attending various events as a speaker and part of the audience. I have also participated in Spaces and created threads on Twitter. Here’s a summary:

  • Astar Network Workshop on November 30, 2023.

  • Getting to Know Polkadot at the Gallery Day of Ethereum Latam Day on December 2nd, 2023.

  • Polkadot Experience Beta, Arequipa, Peru (speaker) on February 23rd and 24th, 2024.

  • Describing Opportunities in New Technologies (speaker) in San Andrés, Colombia. on March 13th, 2024.

  • Polkadot Experience Beta, Medellín, Colombia on March 16th, 2024.

  • Why do I want to attend Polkadot Decoded?
I started Polkadot in May 2023 as a candidate, since then I have tried to attract new users, explaining Polkadot in an easy and simple way. For July 2023, after the flagship event they announced the new ambassadors exactly on July 10, this year the Polkadot Decoded is July 11 and 12 and just 1 day before I celebrate my year as an ambassador:sparkles:, it is a dream for me to celebrate it in the Polkadot flagship event, I also want to go to gain new knowledge, be aware of new updates, meet and connect with more ambassadors and members of the Polkadot ecosystem.:globe_with_meridians:

A summary of your last six months of activities as an active member of the community.

  • Building https://dotcodeschool.com (received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community)

  • Built an unofficial, community led App Store (https://dotappstore.com/) that keeps track of projects and applications in the Polkadot ecosystem (not actively maintained after the official ecosystem page was published).

A paragraph explaining why you would like to benefit from sponsorship.

  • The EU Visa norms require a relatively high bank account balance for Indian passport holders and liquidating crypto in this country is subject to some very draconian tax laws.

  • Further more it isn’t easy to convert crypto into Fiat here at all, so there’s a liquidity issue.

  • Additionally the price drop has left no room for expenses like travel.

In the last six months I have been building together with the Polkadot community in Mexico, actively collaborating with different members within the ecosystem, giving talks at in-person events and translating technical content about Polkadot.

I consider that participating in Polkadot’s largest event of the year is a great opportunity to connect with people in the ecosystem and thereby continue strengthening ties to build on Polkadot.

I became active in the ecosystem on 12/16/23, after a few days in the AMI Marketing chat I started doing some Product Discovery work online, with the intention of helping. From that Product Discovery work I opened a proposal in Open Gov on my first 2 Polkadot adoption initiatives in January 2024, while it was not supported by the Open Gov voting community it did not deter me from continued participation with my skill sets:
• Helped with marketing adoption strategies for The Kusamarian & collaboration initiatives. New active member in The Kus DAO.
• Provided 16 Product Strategy initiatives for product emersion, adoption, on-boarding, and testing for the Inter Miami proposal #644. 1) Prior to me visiting the stadium 2) After attending a game at the stadium.
• Working with Decoded Team.
• Games Bounty member that supports the Telegram rooms and team calls.
• Active member in Open Gov
• Provided 3 pages to the Polkadot Strategy Initiative, prior to the Telegram chats for Onboarding Adoption Strategies. Additionally active in the Telegram Polkadot Strategy chats & Notion.
• Continually knocking on doors providing Product Strategies as I learn more about the Parachains on Polkadot and read Open Gov proposals.
• Regularly discuss and share Polkadot and its products with strangers at my local events. All my close family and friends have watched Behind the Code now over the years.
• I try to be a supportive agent in the echo and community.
I have been a Polkadot enthusiast since the launch of Polkadot. I have attended virtually every Decoded to date and would love the opportunity to attend one in person and meet other community members and ecosystem contributors. My intentions of going in person to this event: learning, networking, and connecting with people that I interacted with online, in addition to making new connections with people who may be new to Polkadot, or I have just never crossed paths with. Polkadot is a global brand and connecting with different people in my country and other regions of the globe in one location will allow me to connect, learn and collaborate to help put forth Polkadot’s mission of adoption in the upcoming years and decades.

I would like to share that currently the UniFires initiative is sponsored by Cardano’s Governance program. Members of Polkadot participate in this collaborative initiative Cardano is funding. I am overjoyed for the work they’re doing, as I can see it in their Discord chat room and YouTube. Iniciatives like this will make Polkadot stronger long term, IMHO.

Thank you, Sirjey

In the last six month I was focused on developing several front and backends for Polkadot projects: https://polkadot.study/, https://thewagmedia.com/, https://thekus.xyz/ and https://polkadot-weigher.com/. All of those initiatives are funded by the DOT & KSM treasuries. Beyond that I contributed to useInkathon with the aim to improve the DX on Polkadot.

A paragraph explaining why you would like to benefit from sponsorship
I want to continue improving DX for dApp developers on Polkadot and have several ideas of creating dApp templates and dev tooling to make it easier to develop applications with PAPI and polkadot api.

I want to network with frontend developers to find their needs for specific tooling or dApp starter templates as well as with the useInkathon team to discuss further collaborations in maintaining and improving the library.

Summary of your last six months of activities as an active member of the community:

Over the past six months, I have been actively engaged in numerous initiatives that contribute significantly to the Polkadot ecosystem, demonstrating my commitment and impact within this vibrant community.

  • Paseo Community Testnet Maintenance: I am a core member of the team responsible for maintaining the Paseo Community Testnet, a successor to Rococo. This testnet is essential for developers and parachain projects, providing a robust environment for testing and development. See our contributions on GitHub: Paseo Network Runtime Maintenance. To provide greater accessibility and real-time insights into the testnet, I developed a dedicated web explorer, available at Substrate Web Explorer - substrate beryx io.
  • Polkadot Generic App for Ledger Devices: I played a significant role in the development of the new Polkadot Generic Application for Ledger hardware wallets. This application will enable secure handling of any substrate based chain tokens contributing to making the ecosystem more robust and dynamic, for both users and developers. I facilitated the integration of this new application with Web wallets as subwallet, talisman, or novawallet by developing a JavaScript library that facilitates interaction with this application. Explore our GitHub repository at zondax ledger-polkadot-generic-api repo.
  • Community Engagement as Speaker:I participated as a speaker at the Polkadot Argentina meetup. This event allowed me to share insights about recent developments and engage with local community members. I am passionate about driving awareness and understanding of key developments. Polkadot Argentina Twit .

Reasons for Seeking Sponsorship

  • Engagement and Representation at Key Industry Events:

I have previously attended Polkadot Decoded in Buenos Aires, a significant event for the Polkadot community. Although Buenos Aires is a major hub for our community, my experience has been limited to local events. Sponsorship would enable me to extend my participation internationally, allowing me to represent our projects on a global stage, engage more deeply with the international Polkadot community, and bring back valuable insights to our local team.

  • Active Involvement in Community Development:

As a maintainer of the Paseo Testnet, it is crucial for me to stay actively engaged with the latest developments in the Polkadot ecosystem. Sponsorship would facilitate my continuous education and involvement in cutting-edge discussions, which is vital for the advancement and maintenance of our projects.

  • Promotion of Innovations and Contributions:

Being part of the team that developed the Polkadot Generic App for Ledger, I am keen to showcase this innovative work to a broader audience. I look forward to showcasing and explaining to a wider audience how they can benefit from this development.

A summary of your last six months of activities as an active member of the community.

Hello everyone! My name is Nicolás Biondini, I’m 25 years old, and I’m from Argentina. I’m a graduate of the Polkadot Blockchain Academy at UC Berkeley in the engineering track (NFT here).

I was part of the former "Polkadot Heroes " program.

I wrote this blog post about my experience in the academy, which ranked very well in Google searches, leading to dozens of academy applicants contacting me for advice on how to approach the exam, Rust lang, my experience, and currently providing advice to two individuals who reached out to me after being selected for the Singapore edition.

Additionally, I have made some small contributions to various Polkadot repositories (you can check them on my GitHub). I wish there could have been more and of greater impact, but the pace of my work limited this greatly :pensive:.

Last week, I traveled to Buenos Aires to witness Gavin Wood explaining the new JAM paper and to connect with the community in person.

Also, as a side note, I am an active member of the Polkadot community on Twitter (@BiondiniNicolas).

A paragraph explaining why you would like to benefit from sponsorship.

I’ve been part of the Polkadot ecosystem since late 2022 (coming from the Ethereum ecosystem) and have always seen Decoded and Sub0 events online because they’ve been held in Europe and Asia, places very far from Argentina (we’re far from everything ), which comes with a significant cost that unfortunately I haven’t been able to afford, so this could be my first Decoded.

I was a former Composable/Picasso member (I’m in my last days at the company), where I was a core contributor as a Frontend developer.

My idea now is to start contributing content about polkadot.js (which is lacking) and try to improve the documentation and develop tools , as I feel it’s very important and not given as much importance (compared to libraries from other ecosystems).

Last year at Sub0, after attending a workshop by Dennis Zoma (the developer behind useInkathon), I managed to contact him, and we started discussing how much we need to improve the dev experience in the frontend on the Polkadot ecosystem to attract new developers.

Now, by doing this in person, connecting with frontend developers from the ecosystem in person, I believe we can all work together to solve the problems we face in our daily work and develop open-source solutions that help new web2 or other ecosystem developers enter the Polkadot ecosystem (which, believe me, can be overwhelming coming from web2 or just connecting Ethereum smart contracts, and also there should not be even 1/10 part of the tools developed in other ecosystems ).

Additionally, I feel that as a PBA alumni, we can use Decoded as a meeting point, and networking between founders and alumni can be of great potential to develop new ideas .

Thank you very much in advance for everything! I am available for anything you may need! Muchas gracias! :maté::smile:

I fully support Bekka in being sponsored.
Her contributions as an active member of the ecosystem have been invaluable.
She consistently spreads the message with passion and commitment, inspiring others to get involved.

Bekka’s a true frontrunner. Not only is she the first lady rustacean from the African region, but she’s also become a leader by spearheading activities and events that benefit the entire region. Her dedication and initiative are deserving of this sponsorship.

Summary of activities:
I have been a voice that speaks and represents the Polkadot brand within my region for so long now. I managed the local community, spoke at various events, made contributions on how to further improve the Polkadot brand through the ambassador program, wrote a couple of contents on x to educate the community. I’m currently helping to protect the community from scams and fraudulent activities via the Polkadot Anti-Scam Initiative.

Why I would like to benefit from sponsorship:
One of the things that web3 offers is the opportunity to network and collaborate with different people around the globe while learning new skills. This event would enable me to learn more about Polkadot, meet new community members, collaborate and share ideas and then position myself to educate other community members about the Polkadot ecosystem and use case.

Thanks for your consideration.

Chris.

Activity: I am actively working as a Head Ambassador, supporting Polkadot initiatives and people/projects interested joining the ecosystem. I help newbies submitting proposals to OpenGov, Im an active voter/commenter. Speaker at events, latest was yesterday at Blockchain Budapest Day where I presented Polkadot with Vikk.

Reasoning: As always I help guiding people at the event from deep tech level to high business level. My networking skills I believe also improve the event quality. We don’t have any other sponsorship options as Community Contributors or Ambassadors right now, so Im requesting it.

Name - Petr Mensik (pmensik)

Country - Czechia, EU

Activity - I am founder of Polkadotters, therefore last 6 months we were releasing weekly news from the ecosystem and monthly governance reports. We also did a plenty of write-ups about different topics from Polkadot - series Rising Stars of Polkadot which covered new parachains projects (Tanssi, peaq, Frequency and others), we covered other standalone Substrate projects like Avail or Sora and brought explainer articles about Polkadot technology like the latest one about JAM.
At the same time, we became one of the first Decentralized Voices in governance so I did a lot of due dilligence in order to be able properly participate in OpenGov. We also finished our implementation of IBP and now we are serving 17 RPCs for all the relay chains (Westend, Paseo, Kusama, Polkadot) and their system chains.

Reasoning - We plan to write a review of the whole conference and publish a summary for our readers about all the new projects and features. Since we are quite active in the ecosystem, I believe that education is the most important thing since only then I can pass my knowledge to the wider community.

During my journey in the ecosystem I have been able to understand the importance of sharing experiences and Decoded is the main meeting point for the entire Polkadot community. Last year I had the opportunity to attend and that allowed me to take that experience to the various countries where I have been able to carry out activities as a way to demonstrate to all the people I have been able to reach that this is a protocol made up of wonderful people. In that sense, Decoded represents a unique opportunity to strengthen collaboration ties with ambassadors and projects with which it would not otherwise be so easy to connect and continue.

The learning is truly immense and I am very excited to continue participating and be an instrument of help within my capabilities. Let’s keep building together =)

Hello everyone!

I’m Albert, known as “I Love Cripto” on social media, and I am the Head Ambassador for Polkadot in Spain.

Over the past six months, I have been focused on building a business development team in Spain and Andorra. Additionally, I am the curator of the Spanish Bounty in the areas of events and content creation, the Meetups Bounty, and the Support Bounty. I am also organizing an online hackathon called Polkadot Prodigy, with a closing event to be held in Bulgaria on Juny 7th.

As the Head Ambassador for Spain and a member of the BD bounty, I would like to attend Polkadot Decoded in Brussels to stay updated on the latest news from the Polkadot ecosystem and to accurately share this information in the various activities I am involved in. Furthermore, I am interested in expanding my network and staying connected with the global Polkadot community to explore opportunities for collaborative actions to further promote Polkadot worldwide.

Thank you all for your support, and see you in Brussels!
