Hey all! Here are the meeting minutes from our monthly OpenUX Call.

2. UX Bounty Update

Since our setup in September, we’ve focused on launching the remaining UX issues. We now have two projects in progress and two other about to start:partying_face:

As we move forward, we’re making adjustments to our timeline based on what we’ve learned along the way. Here’s the updated timeline:

Reading Notes:

  1. Two issues are in progress: [UXB-1] and [UXB-3].
  2. Two more issues are set to start soon (hopefully after tomorrow’s curator call): [UXB-2] and [UXB-6].
  3. One issue, [UXB-5], has been paused after multiple discussions. The reason is that cross-chain swap tech is still too immature. Proposing a template now wouldn’t align with the UX Bounty mindset to iterate and create things that are useful — so we’ll wait for further developments. After teams like Nova, Velocity Labs, or Hydration refine this tech and we see interest by parachains to implement it, we can revise the need to propose a templated interface.
  4. Reporting is currently being set up. Expect the first report in November, coinciding with the first payouts and milestones completion.
  5. We’re also beginning work on Bounty Phase #2, with more information to be shared soon to gather community feedback.

3. UX Issues Updates

[UXB-1] - Unification of Address Format

@jak-pan proposed the WFC and is currently 99.6% in favor .

We’re now developing guides and mapping dependencies for this change. Soon, we’ll have all the necessary docs for parachains to start implementing the new address format. Stay tuned!

[UXB-2] - DOT as a Unified Gas Token

@Remy_Parity recently published this forum post to initiate discussion on this initiative.

Once budget and timeline approval comes through (hopefully tomorrow), we’ll begin creating resources. Like UXB-1, we’ll map dependencies and potential challenges, so parachains can make informed decisions on which method to adopt with all necessary resources in hand.

[UXB-3] - Protective Measures on transfers to CEXs

@ThomasR is set to finish his wallet journey audit by mid-November. Afterward, he’ll work directly with wallet teams to implement the notice and guardrails.

Though this issue may not be publicly visible, it’s critical, as users are still losing funds due to this misunderstanding on Polkadot’s architecture.

[UXB-6] - Unified Glossary

I recently published this forum post outlining our approach to creating a Unified Glossary. Feel free to check it out .

Pending approval from the curators after tomorrow’s call, we’ll begin analyzing dapps in the verticals we’ve proposed (DEXs, Liquid Staking, Bridges, and Token States).

4. Final Words

Want to participate in this initiative?

Final note: this post is to share publicly our progress and gather your feedback. We emphasize on the importance of joining the call for live discussions as it facilitates better coordination and collaboration
