Hello Community!
We’re excited to apply for the Decentralized Voices Program, Cohort 5, once again. Here’s a bit about who we are, what we do, and our vision.
About Us
We’re TheGlobedotters - friends united by a passion for Web3 tech. Since diving into Polkadot in September 2020, we’ve grown from curious investors to active ecosystem contributors. We focus on Polkadot, Kusama, Energy Web, Hydration, and Mythos, steadily expanding our involvement. We’ve consistently worked toward our goals, including actively evaluating and voting in OpenGov on both Polkadot and Kusama, as well as growing our Nomination Pools. We’ve also successfully launched several Worker Nodes on Energy Web and are planning to set up Validators on Kusama and Polkadot.
We’re a closed group of friends and don’t intend to build community nor here to chase social media fame or anything like that. Instead, we focus on our steady, modest contributions, aiming to become a meaningful part of the ecosystem’s infrastructure and, eventually, maybe even support promising projects financially.
Our Perspective
From the start, Polkadot was an obvious choice for us. When we looked for projects that could become the backbone of Web3 in the coming years, Polkadot stood out. We’ve been here through the ups and downs, evolving from a purely investment-driven approach to recognizing the importance of shaping the project’s vision.
True decentralization, in our view, is not just a necessity but a huge challenge at this early stage. We’re encouraged to see the community maturing, making more informed decisions after some initial chaos and, in our opinion, less-than-ideal choices. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but it’s great to see lessons being learned.
Our Philosophy
We don’t have grand expectations - we focus on what we can do ourselves. True decentralization is both a necessity and a challenge. We bring a finance background, which makes us conservative about spending and critical when evaluating proposals. We vote based on one question: Does this add real value to the ecosystem?
We balance fiscal responsibility with the need for innovation, ensuring Treasury funds are spent efficiently without stifling progress. Our independence means we vote purely on merit, even if it means saying “no” to proposals from people or groups we like.
Our Contribution
We’d describe ourselves as conservative when it comes to spending and critical when evaluating OpenGov proposals. We commit to actively voting and assessing all referenda based solely on their utility and value to the ecosystem. We believe we bring a valuable perspective, and participating in DV would be an exciting step in our journey, as well as a chance to grow.
Cheers to the entire community,
TheGlobedotters
