Decentralized Voices Cohort 4 - Trustless Core

Introducing Trustless Core, a team composed by members from the Polkadot community who decided to answer the call of the Web3 Foundation for this new wave of DVs.

This team finds itself committed to the development of the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem. Most of its members have been active in OpenGov and, in some cases, have previous experience as DVs.

We firmly believe that by coming together we can achieve a greater impact on voting, demonstrating high efficiency and commitment by not being part of large DAOs that concentrate high amounts of votes. This team represents an opportunity to be a true decentralized voice without affiliations or special interests by actively participating in Open Gov.

Philosophy and Agenda

There is a firm belief in the transformative potential of new technologies. These indispensable tools not only improve people’s lives but also provide new opportunities. Trust is placed in the development of OpenGov and decentralized governance models that balance the interests of active ecosystem participants with those of token holders, especially those with significant voting power. Delegation tracks and conviction voting are valuable mechanisms for limiting the influence of certain actors. Furthermore, the initiative by the Web3 Foundation to distribute votes through Decentralized Voices among key figures helps expose a range of opinions and perspectives.

Decentralization should represent a diversity of voices—both technical and non-technical - and provide opportunities for different teams from various communities and regions. It is believed that Polkadot should continue to focus on ecosystem growth, fostering greater adoption of the technology by companies and projects, and strengthening interoperability with other blockchains. Divergent voices are fundamental to consolidating the system and enabling its maturity.

Recognizing the current landscape for promoting Polkadot’s native developments and its future as the largest provider of Web3 cloud services, it is essential to first demonstrate the efficiency of Decentralized Voices towards OpenGov and second, showcase the professionalism required to engage with proposers in a serious manner. With this philosophy, real value can be brought to Polkadot’s OpenGov by showing potential participants - including individuals, startups, DAOs, and companies - how this new on-chain governance tool evolves, offering high engagement and feedback for each participant.

Work Plan

Polkadot

  • Provide feedback and vote on 100% of the proposals.
  • Prioritize ecosystem technical developments, core dev teams, bounties, and integrations that enable the growth and adoption of Polkadot and Kusama technology, with a strong emphasis on accountability.
  • Prioritize UX and UI.
  • Avoid spending on outreach. Outreach proposals should be deferred to the respective bounties and collectives.

Kusama

  • Provide feedback and vote on 100% of the proposals.
  • Building on the momentum of ref. 498 WFC on the Polkadot Canary Network and its revival, our group will support governance proposals that align with the newly intended direction for Kusama.

Consensus process and external communication

Each member of the group will analyze a proposal assigned in order of publication. They will create a report to share with the rest of the members and then proceed to the internal voting, which will be determined by majority vote. The final decision will be communicated appropriately on the respective platforms that reflect OpenGov, as well as on the group’s public social networks, attaching a description of the determining factors that led to the final decision.

Communications with the proponents will be carried out on the OpenGov platforms, as well as through an institutional communication channel (e-mail) if they wish to add relevant information or simply want to contact the team. Individual communication will be avoided, understanding that the team works as a decentralized node and referencing dynamics that have proven effective in this regard.
