Hello Polkadot community!
I am posting this on behalf of TheGlobedotters, which I am a member and originator of.
About us
Friends who met over a few years ago in TradFi while working for one of the largest financial institutions in the world. We were brought together by our legal education and a passion for blockchain, as well as hours-long discussions every day.
Recognizing the immense potential, we joined Polkadot in August 2020, and we have been continuously in ever since, consistently expanding our areas of activity. At the moment, we are focused on our own development and laying the groundwork for future endeavors, such as e.g. validation.
We also run Nomination Pools on Polkadot and Kusama (the first of which has been active continuously since January 2023). Additionally, we have ambitions to expand TheGlobedotters, which is intended to become a platform supporting the development of various types of projects.
Our perspective
Our beginnings were very simple - we were searching for the best possible projects that, in the long term, could evolve into something bigger and serve as the infrastructural foundation for Web3. The choice of Polkadot was therefore quite obvious.
From an initially purely investment-driven approach, we moved to a point where, increasingly drawn into the project, we shifted to an entrepreneurial mindset, wanting to work for it and support its development as well. In our view, true decentralization is not only a necessity but, at this still early stage, a significant challenge.
We are pleased that, after an initial period of chaos and, in our opinion, some less-than-ideal community decisions, we can see how we are collectively maturing and making increasingly conscious choices. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but it’s good that we are at least partially learning from our experiences.
Our philosophy
Our motto is best captured by a paraphrase of J.F. Kennedy’s words - ask not what Polkadot can do for you, ask what you can do for Polkadot. From the start of our journey, we have systematically and consistently increased our involvement, focusing primarily on expanding our knowledge and preparing to extend our activities within the ecosystem.
We believe that the combination of our legal education and years of experience working in TradFi gives us a unique perspective on OpenGov, where resource management and rule-setting are so crucial.
Given how the Treasury is structured and where its funds come from, we are relatively restrained when it comes to any expenditures, and when evaluating proposals, we analyze them primarily based on the added value they can bring to Polkadot and the entire ecosystem. Of course, we do this while maintaining rationality, common sense, and an awareness that this is a rapidly evolving environment, and that the development and promotion of cutting-edge technologies also come at a cost.
What’s more, we are completely independent and make decisions solely in accordance with the aforementioned beliefs of our own. Regardless of whether we have personal sympathies toward someone or appreciate their previous contributions, each referendum is a separate evaluation and decision.
Our contribution
As new faces, we believe we can bring a slightly different outlook and perspective. In the case of a nomination, beyond actively voting, we commit to constructively evaluating the proposals and suggesting more optimal solutions where possible. Every referendum, without exception, will be assessed through the lens of its usefulness and added value to the ecosystem.
Additionally, with the upcoming implementation of delegation for members of Nomination Pools, which we are particularly and eagerly awaiting, we would like to contribute to promoting participation in OpenGov.
With warm regards,
TheGlobedotters
Striving for efficiency.
