Dear Polkadot Community,
I’m thrilled to submit this application on behalf of the Polish Polkadot Community for the Decentralized Voices cohort 5. Our community is dedicated to advancing the Polkadot ecosystem in Poland and beyond through active engagement, education, and collaboration.
Who We Are
The Polish Polkadot Community is a dynamic group committed to promoting the Polkadot ecosystem locally and internationally. For several years, we have consistently shared critical updates, fostered collaboration, and built a robust community. Our efforts have culminated in the creation of a functioning DAO that actively participates in Polkadot’s governance through OpenGov.
Our Mission
Our mission is to drive quality, innovation, and growth within the Polkadot ecosystem. We aim to create an inclusive, efficient community that attracts new users, developers, and builders. Our focus is on showcasing Polkadot’s technological advancements and opportunities, with our greatest success being the onboarding of individuals who actively use, build on, or add value to the ecosystem.
Our Achievements
-
Digital Presence and Growth: Since mid-2024, we have significantly expanded our primary communication channel on X, growing a new profile from scratch through organic content and consistent engagement. This platform has become a vital hub for sharing Polkadot updates and engaging with our community.
-
Events and Community Building:
- In late 2024, we began organizing in-person meetups and participating in major events. We successfully represented Polkadot at conferences like NBX Warsaw and Code Europe in Kraków, featuring speakers from the Web3 Foundation, Parity Technologies, Scytale Digital, and Polkadot-based projects such as Hydration and Bifrost.
- Our members have also represented the Polish community internationally, including at the Web3 Summit in Berlin.
- We regularly host smaller meetups to foster networking, idea exchange, and relationship-building within the local ecosystem, with a particular focus on attracting developers and showcasing Polkadot’s potential.
-
International Collaboration: We actively collaborate with communities from Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia through the V4 Group. This initiative has facilitated cross-border meetups in Hungary and Poland, as well as online sessions, to share knowledge and strengthen regional communities.
-
Active Governance Participation: Our DAO has been actively involved in OpenGov for an extended period. We discuss all referenda on our community chat and hold weekly team meetings to deliberate on proposals requiring deeper analysis. This ensures transparent, informed, and thoughtful voting.
Our Contribution to Decentralized Voices
Our proven track record demonstrates our ability to grow and engage the Polkadot community in Poland, while contributing to the global ecosystem’s development. Participation in the Decentralized Voices Program would empower us to amplify our governance contributions through delegated voting power. We are confident that our active, transparent, and community-driven approach will add a valuable perspective to OpenGov, aligning with the program’s goal of fostering diverse and inclusive decision-making.
Our Voting Philosophy
Our governance philosophy is simple:
We believe the future of Polkadot depends on demand-driven spending, developer enablement, and long-term ecosystem resilience.
As a DAO built by active contributors, we view governance not just as a duty, but as a means to maintain an honest, effective, and forward-moving ecosystem.
We evaluate each proposal based on its clarity, utility, and connection to ecosystem needs. Exciting ideas are welcome — but they must be backed by:
- Clear problem definition,
- Real user demand or a compelling hypothesis,
- Sustainability or adoption strategy,
We are cautious with MVPs that have no traction and avoid funding ideas that exist only because the Treasury is available. Community money deserves community ROI.
We will actively support proposals that:
- make it easier to build or launch on Polkadot (DevX tools, SDKs, infra),
- onboard new developers via various funnels - workshops, guides, or local education,
- fund dApps or user-facing projects that offer utility and drive DOT usage,
We discuss every referendum as a team, often live, sometimes async, and always with different perspectives. We don’t believe in automatic approvals, default support, or voting “yes” just because someone’s well-known. We vote for ideas, not relationships.
We’re not here to gatekeep, but to raise the bar. We’re not perfect. But we’re present.
And we vote for the future we want to live in — not just the one that pays next month’s salary.
We are excited about the opportunity to further our mission and make meaningful contributions to Polkadot’s decentralized governance.
Sincerely,
The Polish Polkadot Community
