Decentralized Voices: Cohort 3 - Spanish Collective

Statement of Political Philosophy

The Spanish Collective is a group of five active community members who have consistently worked to add value to the Polkadot ecosystem. We believe in fairness, transparency, and respect for everyone in the network. Free participation in OpenGov is crucial for social inclusion and personal growth, helping to strengthen the Polkadot community. A fair and inclusive society is built on giving everyone a voice, creating hope for a better future in the ecosystem.

We focus on making decisions that benefit Polkadot, embracing different perspectives and promoting diversity. Our goal is to keep governance open and accessible, ensuring that all members of the community can contribute and be heard.

Reasons for Consideration in This Program

For a long time, we have been working on creating a Spanish-speaking DAO, but due to various factors, it has never been possible to bring it to life. That’s why we want to start with this collective, where we will take the first steps toward building the DAO we’ve always envisioned.

Our collective has successfully led initiatives to boost governance participation, build community, and support the growth of Polkadot. We’ve organized events and hackathons, managed bounties, created one of the largest staking pools, and run validators on Polkadot and Kusama. We’re also involved in business development and content creation, especially within the Spanish-speaking community.

When it comes to governance, we make sure each proposal is carefully considered and we clearly explain our votes. We value respectful discussions with all proposers and listen to their ideas. Key factors we focus on include community inclusion, the value of the proposal, transparency, the proposer’s reputation, and the long-term impact on the ecosystem. Our goal is to ensure everyone can participate in a fair and open governance process that shapes Polkadot’s future.

As you can see, our team has diverse backgrounds, allowing us to provide informed opinions on the most relevant areas of Polkadot. Additionally, we have the support of several ex-Parity members to assist with more technical proposals, ensuring we address the most critical aspects of OpenGov.

Cervera is the creator of Cryptonitas and he has been creating content for Polkadot and Kusama since 2021. During this time he has been contributing to the ecosystem and the Polkadot and Kusama community in different ways:

  • Content creation. He started creating video tutorials about the features of the Polkadot and Kusama networks so that the Spanish-speaking community could learn how to make real use of the network.

  • Creation of Pool #61 in Polkadot. The goal is that all those people who do not reach the minimum of DOT have the opportunity to carry out staking on-chain, which benefits the ecosystem by providing security to the network.

  • Event organization. During Polkadot Decoded 2022 he organized a viewing party in Valencia (Spain). Also together with Albert, Mimi, Gerard Closa, Slayer, Juanma and Sara, we started the Polkadot World project, which has already carried out several events for the Polkadot community in different Spanish-speaking cities.

  • Content curation. With the approval of Bounty #16 and its assignment of curators, he was curator for the audiovisual content creation section of Polkadot and Kusama, where his role was to evaluate the Spanish-speaking audiovisual content that the community produces, based on clear criteria and defined, and reward those creators for their efforts as a tip.
