Following up the last forum post here.
Hi everyone! Here’s the latest on our push for a unified address format across the Polkadot ecosystem. Below is a summary of each project’s status. “Unified address format” means using the same address prefix (Format 0) on all chains, making it easier to use one address everywhere. As of this month, 6 projects are done, 2 in progress, and 12 in the pipeline.
Done (Adoption Completed)
-
Pendulum – Unified address format is activated.
-
Bifrost – Has updated its addresses to the unified format.
-
Hyperbridge – Already uses the unified address format (from day one).
-
Kylix Finance – Launching with unified address format enabled from the start.
-
Mosaic Chain – Launching with the unified address format from the start.
-
Hydration – Adopted the unified format (its address prefix has been updated to 0).
In Progress (Actively Working On It)
-
Acala – Planning to implement the unified format after upcoming Asset Hub integration updates (Kusama in October and Polkadot in November).
-
Crust Network – Actively moving forward; an initial call was held on Sept 16 to kick off their unified address upgrade process.
Contacted (Pending or Under Discussion)
-
Unique Network – Chain support is in place. The network can output unified-format addresses already, but a full rollout (updating SDKs, tools, etc.) is on hold until more testing is done and it makes business sense.
-
Phala Network – Decided not to proceed with the unified address update for now (not a current priority).
-
JAM/TON by CurioDAO – Contacted, but no response yet from the team on adopting the format.
-
Aleph Zero – Contacted with proposal; no response yet.
-
Zeitgeist – Contacted; no response yet.
-
Ajuna Network – In dialogue. The team doesn’t want to cause confusion with exchanges while they’re consolidating networks, so they’ve postponed address format changes until that’s resolved. (They indicated they’ll revisit this topic once their network consolidation is further along.)
-
Energy Web X – In contact. The team is in the middle of a major upgrade (transitioning to Proof-of-Stake). They prefer to discuss unified addresses after that upgrade is done (expected very soon – a follow-up is planned for late September).
-
Mandala Chain – In contact. The team has been busy with a token pre-sale and PR, so they asked to revisit at the end of this month. A call is scheduled for Sept 24 to discuss moving forward.
-
NeuroWeb (OriginTrail) – In contact. A meeting is set for Sept 24 to talk through adopting the unified format on the OriginTrail parachain (NeuroWeb).
-
Astar – The team has been focused on other efforts, like a token migration to Base, so capacity is limited at the moment.)
-
KILT Protocol – In contact. The devs are exploring if it’s possible to switch address format without disrupting their DID (decentralized identity) system, which relies on the current account format. No decision yet as it may require substantial refactoring and migration.
-
Integritee – In contact. The team plans to adopt the unified format only after Kusama does (since Integritee’s ecosystem ties closely to Kusama’s address scheme). They are waiting on Kusama to move to prefix 0; until then, no ETA on Integritee’s switch.
Conclusion: That’s this month’s overview of Unified Address Format adoption. We’re making steady progress, and it’s exciting to see more parachains on board. If you have any questions, ideas, or want to help, please chime in below! The community’s feedback is always welcome. Let’s keep pushing for a simpler, unified experience across Polkadot. Thank you for your support!
