About Me and Motivations:
I discovered Bitcoin in 2013 and began learning Computer Science in 2014. I left college after discussing the possibility of adding blockchain-related subjects to the curriculum with the Course Manager, who rejected the idea. Since then, I’ve been teaching myself.
I also created the first comprehensive Portuguese course on Solidity and EVM development. For the past 3-4 years, I’ve been working full-time in Web3. Initially, I spent around three years focused entirely on EVM-based development. However, after diving into Polkadot’s technology, I shifted my focus to Rust and Substrate development.
A few months ago, I took over leadership at WEB3DEV, a community of around 10k developers. We offer free education on Web3 and open-source software development. I’m fully committed to the Polkadot community and am currently restructuring our entire course curriculum and resources to focus on Rust and Substrate.
My Most Recent Contributions to the Ecosystem:
- Rust State Machine Bootcamp: Organized a bootcamp on Substrate basics at WEB3DEV, which attracted over 500 developers in the first cohort. The second cohort is already scheduled for October 16. This bootcamp covered the fundamentals of Rust and blockchain, significantly contributing to the growth of Rust and blockchain knowledge within the community.
- Graduated from the developer track at PBA4 Hong Kong, gaining deeper insights into Substrate and the Polkadot ecosystem.
- Conducted workshops on OpenGov at WEB3DEV Study Groups, focusing on DAOs and governance.
- Consistently creating technical content on Polkadot and Substrate via Twitter.
- Since assuming leadership at WEB3DEV, I’ve been driving more and more activity toward Polkadot and Rust developers.

Summary of last six months:
- Co-Founder of KwickBit (kwickbit.com), we are building a non-custodial payment platform for eCommerce to receive payments in stablecoins. We are focused on the Polkadot network. We hope our project helps boost real-life usage of Polkadot and have a real impact in the world.
- Currently working on a Scala implementation of JAM (https://jam4s.org/), and I try to stay active in the JAM and GP Matrix channels, asking questions I don’t find an answer (and which I believe relevant) and answering questions when I can.
- Published several “vulgarization” articles regarding JAM, particularly helpful for those uncomfortable with the math notations in the Gray Paper:
- Wrote Understanding the Safrole Algorithm to explain how the Safrole algorithm works.
- Co-authored Understanding Patricia Trie in Appendix D of the Gray Paper to explain how the Patricia Trie is defined within the Gray Paper.
- Co-authored Understanding Merkle Tree Structures in Appendix E of the Gray Paper to explain the construction of well-balanced and constant-depth Merkle Trees, as well as the node, trace operators, and Merkle Mountain Range.
- We have two private GitHub repositories (ongoing) related to our Web3 Foundation (W3F) grant - we can disclose them for the reviewer (but they’re still on going…):
- One for benchmarking smart contract platforms tailored to our use case (Peter from Pop Network can confirm we’re developing on their platform).
- One for a subscription pallet to enable on-chain recurring subscriptions.
- We received a W3F grant, but due to non-disclosure constraints, we cannot communicate about it on our social media. However, we can provide references from W3F like Seraya for verification.
- Alumni of Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA) Singapore with distinction: certificate link.
Why I would like to attend Sub0:
- Collaborate with fellow JAM Prize contenders, particularly on the jamtestnet project with Sourabh Niyogi, Dani Cuki, Bryan, and Oliver. These are the names I see the most on the JAM chat but even if your name is not here, we would still be probably very interested in collaborating with you.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the Polkadot ecosystem.
- Explore collaboration opportunities for KwickBit and contribute further to the Polkadot ecosystem.
Please any member of the sponsorship team don’t hesitate to coordinate with us in order to evaluate in detail our progress in JAM development.

1. Representatives of projects that are building on Substrate-- GUARDIAN DEFI
Hello,
I’m Adrian Martinez, a web3 developer in training. My first experience with Substrate started a year ago when we began working on Guardian DeFi on the Vara Network blockchain. Guardian DeFi is a protocol under development that leverages the advantages of Substrate, such as the ability to customize modules and ensure interoperability. We are preparing to launch Guardian DeFi as the first liquid staking protocol on Vara’s blockchain, which will soon go live on the mainnet.
This year, we’ve made significant progress by integrating multiple improvements into our smart contracts and optimizing the user experience.
- Representatives of projects that are building on Substrate-- UVEWeb3
UVE is our project, built on Vara Network using Substrate technology, provides a comprehensive platform for communities and organizations to educate, certify, monetize, and tokenize content within the Web3 environment. We bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 tools by offering a unified solution that enables users to host live and on-demand broadcasts, monetizing their content with tokens. Additionally, we issue certifications as NFTs, ensuring authenticity and security, while eliminating the risks of forgery found in traditional PDF certificates. This project recently won a hackathon, and we are now seeking a grant to support its development, enabling us to benefit educators, content creators, and many others.

2. Creation of technical content focused on Substrate
Creation of educational content for women Devs and non-Devs seeking new opportunities in the web3 ecosystem. The links are not placed directly here to avoid the platform blocking my post, so I have gathered them in this drive link: Creation of technical content focused on Substrate_Polkadot - Google Docs
What I woudl like to benefit from this sponsorship:
As a leader of a community of women in the Web3 ecosystem, my desire to attend Sub0 stems from a strong motivation to open new doors for both developer and non-developer women who, with their talent, have excelled in hackathons but need greater visibility to grow their projects. I represent a community of Mexican women who, despite the existing barriers around equity and visibility, are driving ideas, building, and engaging in the ecosystem. This grant would allow me to continue with my purpose of bringing opportunities and recognition to a space where they have not traditionally been in the spotlight.
My work has focused on creating educational content and programs that empower women and university students because I firmly believe in the power of education to change lives. Attending Sub0 is much more than a personal opportunity—it’s the chance to bring fresh, global ideas to my community that can generate local impact. Connecting with Polkadot leaders and learning from innovative solutions will enable me to continue advocating for a more inclusive ecosystem, where women can not only participate but also lead. This grant would be key to continuing on that path and making a real difference for those I represent

- PBA Alumni (Singapore) & 1st prize winner of demo day during PBA
- Building a parachain (planned to launch testnet soon) [repo]
Summary of Last Six Months of Activity:
I have been actively involved in designing and developing a Parachain utilizing the Polkadot SDK, aimed at enabling users and developers of heterogeneous blockchain protocols to easily access the Polkadot ecosystem. In June, at the PBA held in Singapore, I supported Jeeyong in presenting this protocol during Demo Day, and we were awarded first place. In September, I served as a technical support at the Polkadot booth during Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) in Korea, addressing technical questions.
Why I would like to benefit from this sponsorship:
The Parachain I am building is designed to enable seamless interoperability among heterogeneous blockchain protocols. This allows users and developers with experience in other blockchains to easily explore and utilize the Polkadot ecosystem. I believe that enhancing this user experience can significantly expand the Polkadot ecosystem. To achieve this, I need a valuable opportunity to introduce this Parachain to the Polkadot community, especially to developers, and to share ideas for its further development. I am also looking for opportunities to find talented developer colleagues who can help advance this Parachain. The upcoming Sub0 aligns perfectly with the timing of our testnet launch, so I am very eager to attend.
