Private Study Group -> Runtime Developer Guide

(Community Update & Open Invitation)
October 2024 marked the beginning of an experiment: a small, dedicated group of developers gathered to explore Polkadot. What started as a study group is forming into a community of contributors, currently tackling FRAME related tasks as this is my current area of expertise and interest in the PTF.

Our Code-First Philosophy

:white_small_square: Direct immersion: Started immediately with Polkadot SDK, asking for help only when needed
:white_small_square: Talent discovery: This approach naturally filtered for committed, long-term contributors
:white_small_square: Real-world impact: All learning translates directly to ecosystem contributions

Contributor Highlight;

rainb0w-pr0mise: if-else call
run_c0met: dev-accounts
Natty-bajo: Add view functions to Proxy pallet for runtime-specific type configuration

Runtime Development Guide

Since the push to make it public through the PolkadotAfrica platform, some additions were made like having developers get more context about Polkadot runtime development first through some ecosystem online learning pipelines;

About Polkadot Africa

Polkadot Africa is a grassroots initiative driving blockchain education and development across the continent, with a focus on empowering builders through collaboration. It has been instrumental in scaling this experiment into a sustainable contributor network by:

  • Providing infrastructure: Hosting the Runtime Developer Guide publicly, making it accessible to developers globally.
  • Fostering collaboration: Creating spaces for knowledge exchange, including weekly sync calls and dedicated channels for real-time problem-solving.

By leveraging its platform and regional networks, Polkadot Africa has attracted a diverse pool of contributors, enabling us to focus on FRAME development while laying the groundwork for future SDK expansions. Join the movement by participating in our Sunday calls or engaging via X/Twitter.
