In short:
What do you think about a new format of side events that focuses on DAOs, similar to WalletCon, which could be used as an independent meeting ground for different ecosystems to come together and hence provide Polkadot the opportunity to reach new audiences?
Webzero is definitely on the same front, building neutral-looking places for other ecosystems to gather with their meetups.
From what I have seen, their venues feature some Polkadot branding, which creates organic attention and interaction between people who bump into each other.
The DAO Days concept is more targeted at hosting an actual event with representatives from various DAOs, and Polkadot would be a sponsor and appear on stage alongside its peers.
A collaboration for WebZero <> How 2 DAO (the guys proposing the concept) could make sense, and I see complementary skills that could come together here.
But as always, we need to learn more about the community sentiment to have a strong enough push to actually do it
I think it should be more initiatives like this, but designed and built from Polkadot instead of serving external partners. They came with their initiative, but how much is aligned on what we from Polkadot we would like to address? What we, from Polkadot, have to say about the topic?
And how much are we going to pay and which is our benefit?
In that sense, I think is more interesting ( and impactful ) to participate in events like Funding the Commons than hosting and sponsorship their event.
Interesting event - I’ve bookmarked it. I wonder if our community is as involved with the SDGs as we think, and how much overlap we have in topics.
Hence, individuals like Evan/Socials have suggested something broader, such as DAOs, which provide us with numerous angles and touchpoints within other ecosystems.
Regarding your initial questions, this requires further alignment and detailed discussions, which I leave up to How2Dao to navigate, but I try to involve more folks in the discussion.
I think this is fundamentally a very good idea.
(though I’m not sure about what you mean by similar to WalletCon - do you just mean ecosystem neutral?)
I’m assuming this already exists in the Ethereum ecosystem - but maybe that’s a wrong assumption - I can’t actually remember one
We should, for sure, be involved in Funding The Commons - only because we do have pretty advanced DAO funding infrastructure and it’s good to get out there and make friends.
But my impression is that that’s not what you’re proposing here.
It’s more like onboarding Polkadot and other crypto people onto DAOs in general, and a meetingplace for people already into DAOs to connect, right?
If I understood that idea right, then I’d be behind it, whether it is just a place for DAOs within Polkadot to showcase/ onboard, or whether it is directed at the wider crypto ecosystem.
If it is the latter, then if it’s being done already, we should get involved in it. If it is not, we should definitely jump on the opportunity to be the ones to do it.
Who are HOW 2 DAO, though?
I’d be wary of funding a project led by folks outside of Polkadot, even if they have WebZero involved (WebZero, though the company grew from Polkadot and they’re experienced in our ways, are basically an events agency who do what it says on the contract - so they wouldn’t be leading it from the Polkadot side).
If we had a group of Polkadot people who wanted to lead it, though, it could be a good use of resources to use ‘outside’ teams - WebZero / HOW 2 DAO to help with the delivery - especially of attracting in DAOs outside of the Polkadot eco.
Thanks for the thoughtful discussion here. I’m Puncar, co-author of How To DAO and part of the team behind the DAO Day idea.
We’re an independent, ecosystem-neutral initiative focused on DAO education and incubation. Over the past year, we’ve:
Co-hosted a DAO course with support from the Polkadot community
Ran a Polkadot-aligned side event during ETH Prague with Bohemian Roots
Helped onboard students and early teams through DAO sprints and treasury simulations
DAO Day isn’t just “our” event—it’s an open format we’d love to co-create with the Polkadot ecosystem. It’s meant to onboard real builders, showcase OpenGov, and foster DAO-to-DAO collaboration across ecosystems.
We’re happy to work alongside WebZero or others to align on goals, shape content, and ensure Polkadot plays a central role—not just as a sponsor but as a leader in DAO innovation.
Looking forward to more input and collaboration if there’s interest!
