Hello Community.
We present DKDAO collective, a team formed by people committed to the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem.
Lorena, also known as blockya, from Argentina and an active participant in the Polkadot ecosystem since 2020, where served roles such as ambassador and Head Ambassador. Lorena was part of the DV Cohort V2 for Kusama and Spanish Bounty too.
Daniel, long time contributor, founder of Virto and the Kreivo parachain 5. Kreivo is a common good-like parachain funded by KSM token holders and developed by the Virto team. DV cohort V2 for Kusama.
Hernán, also known as Ernih, cofounder of Polkadot Hub, an educational platform in Spanish aimed at developers and the community at large. Hernan was co-organizer of the first Polkadot hackathon in Latin America in 2022, and he organized numerous technical and non technical events, both in-person and virtual, throughout the Latin American region.
We all actively participate in the ecosystem, in the governance of Polkadot and Kusama, Daniel and Lorena were part of DV Cohort V2 and we created this collective with the focus on the projects to build in Polkadot.
Political Philosophy and Agenda for the Ecosystem
We firmly believe in the transformative potential of new technologies. They are indispensable tools for improving people’s lives and give them new opportunities. Likewise, we trust in the development of OpenGov and decentralized governance models that balance the interests of active ecosystem participants with token holders, especially those with a large number of votes. The delegation tracks and conviction voting are valuable for limiting the power of certain actors. Furthermore, the initiative to distribute votes through Decentralized Voices by the Web3 Foundation among certain key figures also contributes to exposing different opinions and perspectives.
We consider that decentralization should represent different voices, technical and non technical and given the opportunity to different teams. We believe that Polkadot should continue to focus on ecosystem growth, fostering greater adoption of the technology by companies and projects, as well as strengthening interoperability with other blockchains.
The divergent voices are fundamental to consolidating the system and enabling its maturity.
We also believe that DV should use the tools provided by the ecosystem to be completely transparent with the vote and Kreivo has that technology that is proven and is also funded by the Kusama treasury.
Plan:
On Kusama:
Focus on on-chain voting to give more transparency to voting.
Continue to prioritize the technical developments of core devs and integrations teams.
Kusama should retake the idea of a canary network to test developments and test and improve application failures.
On Polkadot:
Implement DAO on-chain voting as soon as the tools that allow it are available (implementations or bridges).
Prioritize ecosystem technical developments, core dev teams, bounties and integrations that enable growth and adoption of Polkadot and Kusama technology.
Prioritize UX and UI.
Avoid spending on outreach. Outreach proposals should be deferred to the respective bounties.
Tools for voting process
Kusama:
Because the Kreivo tools have been implemented in Kusama, we will create a fully decentralized and on-chain voting process with an open governance system. The DAO initially will use as a governance system the 1 member => 1 vote voting policy to empower members who might be active in the community but have no means of making an impact on their own. Any verifiable KSM holder can apply for a membership and will be more than welcomed to join.
Voting
As initial members of this community, we would bring in active governance participation, commitment for the protocol and optimistic attitude with the best interest of the network.
Polkadot:
Kreivo is working on a new implementation in Polkadot but it is not finished yet. For that reason, we will implement an off-chain voting through DAO until the tool is completed (estimated for November 2024) and voting can be migrated to on-chain.
For booth:
After the analysis of the proposals in Open gov an internal vote will be held and the final voting decision will be determined by majority vote. The collective’s decision on the vote on each proposal will be published in Polkassembly and the channel created for that.
