Decentralized Voices: Cohort 5. Polkadot America

:classical_building: Introduction to Polkadot Americas DAO

Polkadot Americas (Twitter) is a decentralized community formed by active agents of the Polkadot ecosystem across Latin America. In just four months of continuous and collaborative work, we have successfully consolidated a functional and operational DAO with an organic, representative structure that continues to expand.

Our collective is made up of participants from various countries in the region:

:argentina: Argentina – :chile: Chile – :brazil: Brazil – :uruguay: Uruguay – :colombia: Colombia – :venezuela: Venezuela – :mexico: Mexico – :ecuador: Ecuador

Our Telegram group hosts more than 95 active members, where we engage daily in discussions on governance, technology, OpenGov proposals, educational tools, and DAO-to-DAO collaborations.

:satellite_antenna: Ongoing Activities and Weekly Community Spaces

The community stays active through a consistent schedule of content and participation. We host three or more weekly programs focused on education, technical knowledge, and community building, including:

  • :studio_microphone: Monday Night DOT

  • :speaker_high_volume: OpenMic DOT

  • :handshake: De DOT a DOT

These sessions have featured key contributors from both the global and local Polkadot ecosystems, sharing insights on development, public relations, marketing, governance, content creation, and more.

:busts_in_silhouette: Governance Participation

Our DAO is powered by a diverse group of contributors with hands-on experience in OpenGov proposals, referenda, and community coordination. We build from the ground up, driven by individuals who are deeply committed to decentralized decision-making and the long-term growth of the ecosystem.

:rocket: Our Proposal

Today, we proudly present ourselves in this cohort as an active, functional, and growing DAO, fully aligned with the mission of Polkadot: an interoperable, open, and community-governed Web. We aim to contribute meaningfully to this living networkβ€”from our region, in our language, and with our local perspective.

Glad to see so many people from Latin America step up to this task. Many familiar faces here as well as a few new ones. Good luck and we wish you all the success for this application!
