Transforming the Polkadot Anti-Scam Team into a Truly Decentralized Collective

Dear Polkadot Community

The aim of this post is to start a discussion about evolving the Polkadot Anti-Scam Team into a decentralized collective.

Since the inception of the Anti-Scam Team, It has always been its goal to become a collective, which will make it a more inclusive transparent, and decentralized on-chain group.

The aim of the collective is to make the team the decentralized group that it was always meant to be. A collective that is open, and recognizes the efforts of community members who are working towards making Polkadot a safe place for its members.

One of the biggest requests from the community has been for the Anti-Scam Team to be more inclusive and transparent with respect to its operations. We try our best to be transparent regarding all spends. But providing full information about operations has not always been fully possible. For example, regarding sites takedown, we keep a detailed database of sites taken down, but can’t really be public regarding our techniques, because that would render these techniques obsolete if scammers get their hands on them.

But now, we want the token holders to play a role in shaping the Anti-Scam Collective.

We’ve written a proposal document on how we think the Anti-Scam team should look like, with emphasis on making it more open to experts in the community.

This post aims to serve two purposes:

  • To receive and attend to your queries regarding the Anti-Scam Team
  • To hear your opinion regarding the direction of the proposed Anti-Scam Collective

Thank you!
