SS58 registry archived — a community continuation that keeps accepting prefixes

Hi everyone,

paritytech/ss58-registry was archived on 16 April 2026, so new networks currently have no place to register an SS58 prefix. We hit this ourselves while trying to register ours, so we set up a community continuation:

  • All 149 original entries are kept exactly as they were (Apache-2.0, credited).
  • registry.json uses the same format as upstream, so existing tooling can read it as a drop-in.
  • Check whether a prefix is free (with the nearest free suggestions), and convert any address between prefixes.

If Parity or the Fellowship designates an official successor, we’re happy to hand everything over and point to it. Feedback welcome.
