Can a valid original Polkadot.js mnemonic be rejected because of the account’s cryptographic type or derivation scheme, and can the original extension’s LevelDB storage help identify these parameters?
- Cryptographic type - No, the PJS extension doesn’t even ask for this when importing.
- Derivation path - Yes, if you enter an invalid derivation path, it will reject it. Or if you enter an incorrect but valid one, you will end up with a different address than expected.
The JSON file you could create has the cryptographic type embedded in it, but I’m not certain about derivation path. I assume it does somewhere, but it’s not obvious to me looking at the JSON file. I’m not sure about internal storage and how much information you could get from this.
