Kusama Coretime Renewal

We are working on some monitoring tools and in reviewing the calculations, we tripped over 6s blocktime on the relay vs 12s blocktime on the coretime chain.

Can we assume that if the Kusama Coretime chain ever moves to 6 seconds, the 50400 block cycle will be doubled to 100,800?

I am not clear once you lose a coretime by failing to renew, what will happen? There would be no future opportunity to aquire a core?

You could buy on-demand for the month you don’t have a core or hope that someone sells a core on the secondary market.

You will be able to buy one in the next sale as everybody.

Unless the “white hackers” are faster and purchase all cores for a total of 100 bucks.

I’m just curious, is there any way for a parachain to purchase cores in advance and not have to renew every 28 days?

No, but they will be able to use auto renew, which renews cores every 28 days automatically.

This point of confusion has been fixed already and will be deployed soon.
The sales will no longer be timed based on the Coretime Chain blocks. It’ll use the Relay Chain block number instead and the configuration will be updated accordingly so the wall clock times will be the same.
