Hello Polkadot ecosystem! Please see Dot Play’s recent update and strategy review.(DOT PLAY BOUNTY Forum Update May 19, 2025 - Google Docs)
Over the last five months, we have shifted focus to planning an easier path for game developers to build games in the Polkadot ecosystem. Our original plan prioritized bringing new independent developers, with large audiences, into Polkadot. As part of our efforts in the Dot Play Bounty, we now have 10 games in production in Roblox, one mobile racing game in production for the Mythical platform, and one fully launched game, SpongeBob Tower Defense. All game developers have committed to participating in the Experience Exchange for Gaming in Polkadot. Feedback among developers who aim to dabble in Polkadot, outside of the few teams who make it to the Mythical Marketplace, is consistent - ‘it is too complicated.’ While Polkadot Hub will solve for the ability to create a single Ethereum-compatible game to check out the community, we still need to fill some onboarding gaps, specific to the games industry.
Our overall business development goal is to meet with a minimum of five projects or game developers per week, or ~60 per quarter. This past quarter, from February through April, we completed 225 meetings, including several repeat or follow up meetings. Total company, projects and investor gatherings since Dot Play inception: 665, including independent game developers, studios, publishers, marketers, distribution partners, esports orgs and teams, and general tools providers. In the most recent quarter, we met with fewer tools and infrastructure providers as we are honing in, and while it is always good to spread our wings outside of Polkadot in due diligence, we aim to work with Polkadot-native solutions when possible.
