We are excited to announce an open call for existing ecosystem teams with physical locations or efficiently maintained offices to participate in the Polkadot Hubs bounty program. As part of the Polkadot Hubs initiative, we are launching a pilot phase and need your participation to make this a success.

:airplane: About the Polkadot Hubs Pilot Bounty Program

The Polkadot Hubs Pilot Bounty aims to establish a network of physical spaces that foster collaboration within the Polkadot ecosystem. Managed by a committee of expert curators, the program evaluates and awards funding to proposals for the establishment and operation of these hubs. The initiative supports various activities, including:

  • Ecosystem Provisions: Enhancing collaboration with friendly chains through physical spaces.

  • Marketing Activities: Engaging in advertising, paid features, and collaborations.

  • Community Events and Outreach: Hosting meetups and hackerspaces.

  • Education: Expanding the Polkadot developers community.

  • Software Development: Creating NFTs and ensuring interoperability.

The bounty framework ensures transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility while preventing fund misuse. It also supports the technical development of the Polkadot Hubs network, utilizing DOT as the primary currency.

:dart: Pilot Phase Objectives

We aim to identify a couple of existing hubs within the ecosystem to apply for funding and closely monitor their spending and improvements. This will help us create Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the hubs in the future.

:point_right: Call for Applications

We invite ecosystem teams with physical locations to fill out a simple form, providing us with data on the current traction of this project. Our goal is to gather at least 10 applications and select the most beneficial and cost-effective ones for the Polkadot ecosystem.

  • Funding Support: Selected hubs will receive funding based on specific milestones.

  • Collaboration Opportunities: Join a network of connected and representative physical spaces.

  • Increased Visibility: Enhance awareness of local Polkadot events within and outside the community.

  • Submit Your Application: Fill out the provided form to apply.

  • Selection and Proposal Submission: We will incorporate the applicants’ forms into our proposal and submit it to the open governance for funding.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: We will monitor the pilot phase until the end of the year, assess the outcomes, and draw conclusions to refine our approach.

@dbpatty for the submission, any existing hub can apply, right? As if they would apply to the treasury directly but with less overhead because Polkadot Hubs can then apply for all selected hubs together.
