DevRel HR: Teams, programs, costs, tenure, and status

Hello all,

As a follow-up on my previous post, I have published a database of DevRel HR teams, with a breakdown of their programs, costs, tenure, and status.

This data should be useful for:

As usual, feedback on the fields/entries is always appreciated to ensure the info is relevant.

I will be applying for a retroactive tip on OpenGov at a rate of $85 per hour for the time spent structuring and populating this database.

Thank you!

Update

The scope of treasury proposal data has been expanded to include all Treasury funding pathways (e.g. spend proposals, child bounties, and Phragmen Initiative Fund (PIF) allocations). This was followed up by further data scraping on the Events bounty and Marketing bounty webpages.

As a result, the DevRel HR database now provides a more comprehensive directory of DevRel teams and their associated programs.

As there is a constant stream of both new and ongoing treasury funding requests, I will keep updating the databases as soon as new information becomes available.

I also plan to create a third database for BizDev/BD HR so that the OpenGov HR directory becomes usable for as many ecosystem stakeholders as possible.

Thank you!

Hello, How are these data updated, do you do it manually? I have the impression that things, people and description errors are missing.

Addendum:
One feature that could help users and visitors make more sense of the data and better track its evolution over time would be to complement the HR directory with quarterly or biannual reports.

For example, these reports could cover:

  1. Changes to existing entries (e.g. status, regions, programs, services, costs)
  2. New entries added (e.g. new staff, new teams, new funding proposals)
  3. Leaderboard (e.g. top 3 lowest & highest funding requests, top 3 funding recipients, top 3 regions by activity, top 3 regions by funding, etc.)

These reports would provide an written overview of the state of OpenGov HR without requiring people to navigate the data, create their own charts, and do the data analysis by themselves. Reports would also make the information more digestible and accessible to its intended audience (aka OpenGov participants).

If there is interest in this, I can submit a full proposal on OpenGov to work on this over the next year.

Hello there,

Yes, the data is updated manually whenever there are changes or additions to entries, as I don’t currently see a way to target, source, and cross-reference this specific data automatically across the many multiple webpages that exist in the ecosystem. However, the structure of the DevRel HR database itself hasn’t changed since it was first published at the end of May.

I am not sure what you mean by “things, people, and descriptions errors are missing”.
If you are after a version history or a log of what has been updated/changed over time, this info is only available internally in my Notion workspace.

If you think that there are some important entries missing or that you would like to see added, please let me know in your reply and I will check these details before making changes. One thing to keep in mind is that I only reference standalone DevRel teams that are funded by OpenGov treasuries (Polkadot and Kusama). This means that DevRel teams that are self-funded or operate as internal DevRel departments from Web3Foundation, Parity, and Ecosystem startups/projects will not be listed in this database. Also, teams that are focused on Business Development/Sales and Product development/UX are not referenced here either; as they will have their own separate database.

Many thanks.

Hello Shankar.

I am glad this database works for you, though I only aimed to give a succinct overview of the work your team has done.

You can send me a DM here on this Forum, get in touch via email (anaelleltd@gmail.com) or Matrix (anaelleltd:matrix.org).

Thanks! :sun_with_face:
