Nigeria is the most crypto-centric community with the highest adopters of blockchain technology in Africa and the 2nd Globally. There is a wealth of untapped developer talent within our local community.
ISSUES
It has been observed that web2 developers lack access to specialized training in emerging technologies like blockchain, particularly Polkadot.
Nesthub is a developer community aimed at ensuring a smooth transition for Web2 developers looking to build scalable blockchain products.
This boot camp aims to bridge the skills gap by providing local developers with the specialized knowledge and practical experience needed to build Polkadot-based applications. By fostering local talent, we will cultivate a thriving Nigerian blockchain ecosystem and drive innovation within our community.
DESCRIPTION
Focus: The bootcamp will prioritize applications from developers in Nigeria.
Targeted Curriculum: The curriculum will be tailored to address the specific needs and skill levels of web2 developers.
Mode: This will be a physical bootcamp as that will help the participants to effectively understand the topic within a short period of time.
Timeline: This will be a 2 weeks long Bootcamp.
Mini hackathon: There will be a mini hackathon for the participants where they will showcase the products built during the course of the bootcamp.
Community-Centric Projects: Participants will work on projects that address local challenges.
Local Mentorship Network: We will leverage the expertise of experienced local developers and Industry professionals to serve as trainers and mentors for the Participants on how to scale the products built.
Simplified Language and Examples: All training will be done with examples that relate to the local community using courses from Polkadot Blockchain Academy, ensuring easy understanding.
I understand your point and there’s a plan to achieve that which is to partner with African experts building on polkadot.
As I said we’re working on that
I’d drop a feedback on that during the course of the week.
Hey. This is a great idea. I unfortunately can’t recall speaking with anyone about something like this. If you reach out to me, I can give my suggestions about what I think the best approach is.
This is a truly impactful initiative! It’s inspiring to see how Nigeria—already one of the most crypto-forward communities globally—is taking concrete steps to empower its developer ecosystem. The clear focus on transitioning Web2 developers into the blockchain space, particularly with Polkadot, is timely and strategic.
The approach of hands-on, community-based learning through a physical bootcamp ensures that participants will gain practical, real-world experience. Integrating a mini hackathon and local mentorship is brilliant, as it not only fosters innovation but also helps build strong professional networks that will last beyond the program.
The emphasis on localized examples and simplified language ensures inclusivity and relevance—key ingredients in making emerging technologies accessible and impactful.
Kudos to Nesthub for bridging the skills gap and nurturing homegrown talent to build scalable, blockchain-based solutions tailored to local challenges. This bootcamp has the potential to significantly accelerate blockchain adoption and innovation in Nigeria and set a strong precedent for the rest of Africa.
Looking forward to the amazing solutions that will come out of this initiative!
