ComputeFlux: The First OpenAI-Compatible AI Gateway for Polkadot

Hello Polkadot community,

I am Dr.Cao, the founder of AIWeb3 DAO, and I would like to share a new project incubated from the DAO for community feedback: ComputeFlux: The OpenAI-Compatible AI Gateway for Polkadot.

AIWeb3 DAO has been active in the ecosystem for several years through Chinese-language community building, education, AMAs, ecosystem support, and practical tooling. With ComputeFlux, we are now trying to take the next step: building a real AI product and infrastructure layer that can bring more Polkadot developers and users into AI-native use cases.

ComputeFlux is designed to make AI infrastructure easier for the Polkadot ecosystem to access. The idea is simple: provide OpenAI-compatible APIs, multi-model routing, Polkadot wallet authentication, and Polkadot-native payment flows, while using TEE-based secure compute and Polkadot as the public coordination and settlement layer.

In short, we are trying to build a practical bridge between:

  • AI product access
  • Web3 identity and payment
  • trusted execution
  • Polkadot-native infrastructure

A few points that may be especially relevant to the community:

  • The ComputeFlux website is already live: https://computeflux.ai/
  • Early users can already log in with email or Web3 wallet
  • We have already open-sourced and deployed a smart contract stack on Polkadot testnet: GitHub - computeflux/revive-contract · GitHub
  • The proposal is intentionally conservative in budget and structured as a 4-month implementation phase
  • A large share of the requested support is intended to go directly toward public ecosystem usage credits, so Polkadot developers and users can actually test and use the product

The core deliverables in this phase include:

  • OpenAI-compatible API
  • Multi-model routing
  • Polkadot wallet authentication
  • DOT payment
  • dotUSD payment
  • Compute provider integration
  • SDK
  • Documentation

Longer term, we also want to explore directions such as:

  • x402
  • agent-native payment
  • JAM integration

I am sharing the full proposal here for feedback before broader submission and discussion. I would especially welcome comments on:

  • whether this feels useful for the Polkadot ecosystem
  • whether the Polkadot integration is explained clearly
  • whether the delivery scope feels reasonable
  • what developers or users in the ecosystem would most want to test first

I also want to use this post as an open invitation:

Is ComputeFlux available for use now? How do developer

We’re currently in the early testing phase. ComputeFlux has already been deployed to the Polkadot testnet for integration testing, which is actually how we discovered this issue. We’re validating the infrastructure before opening it up more broadly.

From a developer’s perspective, our goal is to make ComputeFlux as simple to use as existing AI APIs. Developers will be able to use an OpenAI-compatible API, so in many cases they can switch providers by changing the base URL and API key rather than rewriting their application.

We’re actively looking for early developers and ecosystem partners who are interested in testing, providing feedback, or integrating AI capabilities into their Polkadot applications. I’m already on the waitlist. From what I’ve seen in the overview, what AI models are available with this project, and how much does it cost?

There are two different ways to join the waitlist, email and wallet, would that be the same? Do I have to use the wallet to join?

Our goal is to make ComputeFlux an OpenAI-compatible AI compute layer, so developers can access multiple models through a single API without changing their existing workflows.

For the initial release, we’re focusing on supporting popular open-weight models (with more being added over time), and we will also support other AI models in the near future.

On pricing, during the testnet phase, you only need to get the testnet tokens from Polkadot testnet, so the price is 0, you can use it as much as you want, we do want to have more dev to join and test our product!

We’ll be sharing the supported model list, pricing, and API documentation as we get closer to the beta launch. Since you’re already on the waitlist, you’ll be among the first to receive those updates.

Out of curiosity, which models are you hoping to use most (e.g., Qwen, Llama, DeepSeek, Gemma, or others)? Your feedback will help us prioritize support.

No—you don’t need a wallet to join the waitlist.

We designed it this way because we want to welcome both traditional AI developers and Web3 users. Email login users would have a wallet address as well, we will support both web2 and web3 users

If you’re not using crypto today, just signing up with your email is perfectly fine.

Our goal is to make ComputeFlux accessible whether you’re coming from the AI world, the Web3 world, or both.

Can AI tokens be purchased with DOT? That’s absolutely awesome!

I am new to the Polkadot eco, what can I do with my DOT token?

Yes, we plan to support DOT as the payment option to buy the token, we want to increase the adoption of DOT in the eco.

You can use the DOT token to buy the AI token and future applications built on the computeflux!

ComputeFlux Early Progress Update

It’s been a few days since we opened the early waitlist.

This is still a very early prototype, but we’re happy to see people beginning to test the idea.

Over the next few weeks we’ll focus on:

We’ve also been following the MiniJAM proposal with great interest.

One aspect that particularly caught our attention is the idea of AI-assisted acceptance and off-chain worker coordination. As we’re building ComputeFlux, an OpenAI-compatible AI gateway powered by decentralized compute, we’re exploring how AI infrastructure could eventually integrate with ecosystems like MiniJAM.
