Ohh cool, thanks a lot @Gr33nHatt3R
Any time!
Huhuu & happy day
Wanted to give some update on a little of topic, yet little relevant initiative. Peter Bui, one of our Cardano Ambassadors at uniFires made something nice coming to life.
Wanchain launches Dot on Cardano, the thing was initiated by Pete earlier this year in February on X ( Check )… Great to see that some initiatives dont need a referenda or proposal and simply take place because the right people are at the right time at the right place ^^
A nice thing on our general trip on supporting all things Cardano X Polkadot
We learned cardano had some memepool DoS attack recently, which weakens the security of these sampling bridges, if you use the current blockhash. If otoh you use a blockhash at some fixed time, then maybe you can do better.
Yup, we had a quite fun experience with a DDoS attack this week… Cardano Community had a fun time, resulting in draining the attackers funds locked into the scripts he used for the attack. Pete, one of our Cardano Ambassadors at uniFires gives a nice overview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FxyxrcCaVI
On the hashes… very short: think you are right there. ^^
Actually a question @burdges do you mind to have a call somewen soon ? You bring alots of good thoughts here, and if you’d like to i’d love to dig a bit deeper on your thoughts ^^
Sooo, some updates on the Cardano side… XD (Not so great ones actually)
Both proposals, the Light Client Bridge & the NFT Swap proposals didnt made it. In both cases not enough voters supported the proposals and we missed to pass the min Treashhold of 46M Ada for being eligible for funding.
Best thing to do is to reflect & improve and that’s pretty much what we do now ^^
So, revisiting the proposal, ideally improving it and submitting again in the next funding round, which will be around september 2024 with Catalyst Fund 13.
I skimmed through the Light Client Bridge proposal, for the next attempt in Sept 2024 it might be worth sourcing some testimonials from your advisors both on the Polkadot and Cardano sides. @burdges for example would give a lot of credibility by communicating that the design is sound & demonstrable in the allotted time period.
I’m not a user of projectcatalyst but i wonder if you can communicate designs via richer diagrams, even if they are hosted on Github repo and linked i think it would give a lot more context of the deliverables.
Definitely would be something very cool to see, utilising a common strength of the 2 chains being able to support light clients where others like Solana currently cannot.
Hey @ross
Much agree, i think we didnt made a great job in “socialising” the proposal in the last Cardano Catalyst Funding Round and your suggestions make lots of sense.
Maybe even worth to spin up some easy one-pager for the Bridge project which is able to better present relevant informations (diagram, vidoe etc).
Luckily all Cardano Partner Chains will (one day) be connected with all Parachains…
https://iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2023/11/03/partner-chains-are-coming-to-cardano/
This was November 2nd 2023.
Any chance I can see the proposal?
Come hack on this at the web3summit hackathon
Would be a great opportunity to bring Cardano and Polkadot builders together under one roof.
Sure.
It was announced then. This just came out August 1, 2024:
https://iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2024/08/01/announcing-the-alpha-v1-release-of-the-partner-chains-toolkit/
The partner chains people came to meet us at Decoded, which was nice. They really want to collaborate.
@AltiMario @proxy FYI:
Thank you so much! I am wondering if you think it maybe of interest to Cardano voters to understand the positive impacts of Snowbridge and how the upcoming JAM (Gray Paper) proposal may benefit with a light client bridge between us? I ask because I think they’re 2 road mapping items that have future benefits for both protocols and by doing this work now Cardano is positioned to be in parallel to JAM’s benefits once live.
