Application for Decentralized Voices Initiative by AIWeb3 DAO

Dear Polkadot Community and Web3 Foundation,

This is Dr. Cao, I am writing to you today to apply for decentralized voice initiative as the founder of AIWeb3 DAO (aiweb3 | Twitter | Linktree ) and represent the AIWeb3 DAO, the most vibrant Chinese community within the Polkadot ecosystem. Our mission has always been to amplify the voice of the Chinese-speaking community, support Chinese content creators, ensuring it plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Polkadot. With over 8,000 followers on Twitter and daily active engagements across Discord (7500+ members) and Telegram (1000+ members), we have established ourselves as a central hub for discussion, education, and collaboration surrounding specifically Polkadot and Polkadot ecosystem.

About AIWeb3 DAO:

AIWeb3 DAO stands at the forefront of decentralized Web3 education, supported by the Polkadot/Kusama Treasury (AIWeb3 Chinese Unit proposal (爱Web3 中文社区提案) - September, 2023 - March, 2024 ). Our community consists of 20 dedicated content creators who collaborate with numerous Polkadot parachain projects to organize contests and promote the ecosystem, such as the recent on-going video competitions with Astar Network, InvArch, and Bifrost. Each contest has gathered around 20 submissions, demonstrating the enthusiasm and talent within our community.

As a staunch participant in the Polkadot ecosystem, I have personally contributed through video tutorials covering various Polkadot products, from crowdloans to tools in Polkadot eco, making complex concepts accessible to all (My Chinese video channel: https://www.youtube.com/@WEB3EduInvestment ). Our efforts are further bolstered by prominent voices in the ecosystem, such as Ben (https://www.youtube.com/@BentheVC) and Xiucai (https://www.youtube.com/@xiucai-finance) , who bring deep understanding and reach within the community.

Our Proposal:

We are applying for the delegation from Decentralized Voices initiative, as we are confident in our ability to contribute meaningfully and consistently to the governance and progression of Polkadot ecosystem. Our philosophy is that proposals applied through Opengov should have profound understanding of the ecosystem, commitment to contribute over the long term, and a willingness to invest all necessary resources into Polkadot’s growth just as myself and AIWeb3 have been doing. For example, my YouTube channel exclusively talks about Polkadot and Polkadot ecosystem projects by sharing all the new products in Polkadot. Moreover, I chose to build AIWeb3 community during the bear market when Polkadot communities lost faith, so that the core Chinese Polkadot community had a hub to get the latest of the project and focus on the long-term goal of Polkadot rather than on the daily fluctuation of token price. We have been consistently producing content introducing the latest innovation on Polkadot. Our monthly summary of content and activities can be found at: AIWeb3 Chinese Unit proposal (爱Web3 中文社区提案) - September, 2023 - March, 2024 ).

Furthermore, amid the backlash of misuse of Polkadot grants through OpenGov - We advocate for a measured approach to funding new projects and support of KOLs, gradually increasing their allocation based on performance. For established projects and KOLs with proven track records, we aim to provide ample support, recognizing their sustained contributions.

Voting and Support:

Our support for projects extends beyond voting. For those receiving grants, AIWeb3 DAO is committed to helping them grow their Chinese-speaking community. We intend to promote their products through our content creators, engage our community in their testing phases, and facilitate connections with other Polkadot ecosystem projects. We believe in the collective strength of the ecosystem - that together, we are more than the sum of our parts.

If granted this opportunity, I, along with KOL Ben, as the initial sub-DAO team under AIWeb3, will organize weekly Twitter Spaces to discuss all proposals in Chinese, inviting the entire Chinese-speaking community to contribute ideas and support the projects to success. Ben and I will also continue to expand the sub-DAO and attract more experts in Chinese to participate in the OpenGOV.

Closing Thoughts:

AIWeb3 DAO embodies the spirit of decentralization and community-driven growth. As we strive to be a voice for the Chinese-speaking Polkadot community, we are eager to contribute to the Decentralized Voices initiative, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant ecosystem for all.

Thank you for considering our application. We look forward to the possibility of further discussions and to the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the Polkadot ecosystem.

Warm regards,

AIWeb3 DAO

Supporting AIWeb3 and championing the voice of decentralisation
Hello, I am Little Ant, a hardcore Polkadot supporter, AIWeb3 builder, and professionalised community advocate. In this article, I will talk about some of my personal thoughts and some suggestions for decentralised governance, and cheer for the AIWeb3 community to compete for the Voice of Decentralisation.

Firstly, I personally feel that this is an extremely sensible move for the launch of Decentralised Voice. In retrospect, I think Polkadot’s governance never really got down to the grassroots level, she was merely a privilege reserved for tokens. Everyone needed to decide on the size of their voice by virtue of their wealth, everyone needed to think about whether their voice was important to the ecology, and everyone wondered if they were going to be swallowed up by a whale.

People are muddled, and they are abandoning the power of governance in their own hands. Either they choose to give in to fate, or they choose to say nothing. For the community, a home that is both familiar and alien, and for the vote in their hands that is both sacred and symbolic of equality, people are speechless. People are speechless, their former enthusiasm gradually dies out, and their former concern ends helplessly. In the end, either cursing or lamenting to leave the scene.

The reason for this is that there are two core problems. One is the guidance given to the right to govern at the beginning of the community’s construction. Because Polkadot itself was in an experimental setting, inexperience or lack of precedent was the norm. While the builders designed the voting weights, they ignored the underdog mentality of small and medium-sized token holders, which ultimately resulted in a disproportionate number of votes. Secondly, because governance itself is a difficult balancing act on all fronts, due to certain inadvertent actions, there is often a herd mentality which leads to a herd effect, making the final result seriously skewed.

Of course, these problems are not easy to solve. In the real world, for example, government elections, which have a history of hundreds of years, are often not easy to deal with, resulting in a messy end result. The fact is that human beings, as a higher organism, are the most complex-minded animals in the world. For every 100 people, there are 100 different ideologies, and it is never easy to unite all the ideas. We can only find out the decision that best serves the interests of the majority in the limited space we have to vacillate.

Personally, I think Decentralised Voice is one of the few ways to get unanimity in this limited space. Not only does this move allow the vast majority of Polkadot fans to be fully informed of what is happening within the ecosystem, and what will be achieved in the future. And with a sacred sense of participation and due vote, it gives the ecological supporters the utmost trust. This results in a great boost to the status, voice, and self-confidence of the community and fans.

It seems to me that the decentralised voice inevitably cuts into the cake of some giant whales, and that it was only possible because of the sacrifices made by some of the eco-supporters. For this kind of goodwill, as a member of the ecological, we should give corresponding respect. We should also make more efforts to promote the improvement of community governance in return for the love of these pioneers.

Therefore, on behalf of the AIWeb3 community, I would like to put forward the following suggestions for the implementation of the Voice of Decentralisation:

  1. the lead person to set the district council ordinance to improve the basic framework for decentralised governance in the local community.

  2. for weekly decentralised councils, motions, bylaws, and transcripts need to be recorded in archived form.

  3. The proposals and protests of the voters should be dealt with in a timely manner, and those that cannot be dealt with should be replied to in a timely manner, with an explanation of the reasons.

  4. Local councils should be equipped with dedicated pledge nodes, where voters can influence decision-making with their voices and the community can determine power with their pledges.

  5. Elections are a big deal and affect everyone’s future, so weekly motions and decisions should be publicised in the communities they belong to.

  6. The weekly agenda of the local community should be attended by Polkadot Foundation’s observers or supervisors.

In this way, different voices can be brought together, and different forces can be fused together to form the steel torrent of Polkadot.

I am Little Ant, I canvass for the AIWeb3 Chinese community, thank you for reading, salute!

(Note: The above suggestions include some of my considerations for the future development of the community, i.e., the corporate operation of the local community, and the team building of the specialised community, which will not be introduced here)
