Thoughts on Frank McCourt’s Vision for an American-Owned TikTok and Its Potential Impact on Polkadot?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the crypto world, but I’m really interested in Polkadot and its potential. I recently came across a news story that could be huge for the ecosystem, and I’m curious to hear what the Polkadot community thinks about it.

The article talked about Frank McCourt’s vision for creating an American-owned version of TikTok. It mentions that if a law forces TikTok’s sale, which seems unlikely over 170 million American users could transition to a new version of the app that McCourt envisions.

-170M users would be a huge deal for polkadot. Not knowing much about the technology could the ecosystem handle that volume of users? If not what would need to happen?-

This version could drive what he calls an “upgraded internet” where users, not tech giants, own their data. He also highlighted that he’s working on “alternative algorithms” in case the app is sold without its original code.

-So it really seems like he’s moving on his plan how would this move impact the direction of polkadot and I’m wondering what the community thinks about this, especially in the context of Web3 and decentralized networks like Polkadot.

Do you think a shift like this could positively impact Polkadot’s vision or create new opportunities in the space? And what might the role of blockchain technology be in this “upgraded internet” McCourt is describing?

I’d love to hear any insights or thoughts you might have on how this could affect Polkadot or the broader Web3 space.
