Polkadot Roots initiative

A major milestone this quarter was the launch of the Polkadot Roots initiative, designed to empower community members to organize impactful Polkadot meetups in key Web3 hotspots. With guidance from curators and Luuu, our dedicated sub-curator, Polkadot Roots is in its pilot phase, running through Q4 2024 and Q1 2025.

The first two hotspots are already live:

  • Miami, led by James Slusser (PBA alum and Polkadot ecosystem member since 2021).
  • Southern Nigeria, led by Bekka, PBA alum and a respected community leader.

More cities will be added, as we continue growing local Polkadot communities around the world.

Transition to an RFP-based system for Key Industry Events

Starting in 2025, the Events Bounty will adopt a Request for Proposals (RFP) system for Key Industry events based on our Conference Master List.

This approach will:

  • Pre-negotiate sponsorships and Pre-approve speakers to ensure that top-tier presentations and discussions reflect the best of Polkadot’s offerings.
  • Publish RFPs with clear deliverables for organizers, such as workshops, presentations, and engagement strategies.
  • Offer design and marketing support through Distractive and the Events Bounty curators.

Updates & Learnings

We’ve gathered valuable insights this quarter, leading to several updates:

  • Design Review: Strengthening the design review process to ensure consistent branding across events.
  • Negotiations for Sponsorship: We will start to engage a negotiator to secure better deals for event sponsorships.
  • Speaker Coordination: Enhancing speaker engagement at major conferences by collaborating closely with Web3 Foundation, Parity, and ecosystem leaders.
