Suprime - Decentralized Web3 Accelerator

Hey guys,

nice to be in a community of like-minded people, first lemme introduce myself: I’m Kiril, a techie who builds IT for 22 years, and web3 tech for the past 8 years.
Based in the Netherlands, I set up a number of web3 startups, and just listed a proposal about Suprime - the first ever 100% decentralized accelerator we were building for more that a year already.

Over the past 8 years we were sick and tired of ppl, organisations, ‘influencers’ and that sort of stuff who were intensively extracting value from web3 tech, instead of contributing, even a little bit.

When started, we were all visionaries and crypto maximalists who believed we have tech to change the way societies and businesses work. Instead, after so many years we see we basically failed. Due to a variety of reasons, but mostly due to greed, and the fact way too big money were on the table.

Long story short, we’ve decided to DIY, and try to change it, at least a little bit.
Feel free to have a look at the proposal, curious what you guys think about it.

Cheers!

Personally, I’m surprised by this kind of proposal. Is a funding request of 220k $DOT a mistake? In your whitepaper, you mention VCs, so I’m wondering why you’re turning to OpenGov instead…

We’d like to avoid funding by VCs, in any form. Ideally. we’d like to avoid token issuance as well.
On the other hand, building a distribution channel via a partnership with a VC fund or an accelerator would help a lot, because these type of organisations have already processes to find and sort out promising ideas.

Given that we’ve spent $85k of own funds by now, we have a projection of expenses around $800k in the coming 3 years, that would allow to scale up ~ x4 in operations.

Listen, I might be wrong, but I don’t like the approach not even the idea of asking for funding through OpenGov for this kind of project. I just don’t get the concept. Building an accelerator without VCs seems crazy to me. And in the end, I don’t even see the added value for Polkadot in approving this type of project.

Sorry if I’m being a bit blunt, but at least I’m being clear. If needed, I can take the time to explain the vision in detail and how the business actually works.

I’ll be honest, I’m actually surprised by the nerve it takes to casually come on OpenGov, drop a message on the forum, and then submit your proposal. I’d rather be straight with you: either your team is holding a big bag of DOT, or it’s pretty much impossible for this to get approved by the community.

I’m fine if it doesnt’t get approved, no hard feelings.
It’s weird seeing argument that a decetralized accelerator can’t be built without a VC, perhaps you’re missing the point of a decetralized business model.
Perhaps you didn’t try to raise money or been accelerated, for your startup either in 2021 or after the market shift, and don’t know how broken, poisonous and bad that industry is.
Anyway, doesn’t mater much
