Location-based Hackathons – Good or Bad?

Hi everyone,

I recently came across a Polkadot Digest post that mentioned:

There’s a 3-day hackathon from WebZero, “The Blockchain Synergy”, with almost $100,000 USD worth of prizes.

It’s great to see so much activity in the ecosystem!

However, I’ve noticed that most of these hackathons are location-based, which makes it difficult for many developers around the world to participate.

As someone actively building products on Polkadot, I believe we really need more online hackathons to help global developers grow and contribute.

Currently, the only major online event seems to be the one organized by Encode Club, and that only happens once a year.

While there are some great grant programs available (which I truly appreciate), they often take months to get approved, or even to receive a response.

For indie builders or small teams, that kind of delay can be discouraging.

I’m not well-known in the community or part of the core circle, but if you are and you agree with this, please help raise awareness and support builders like us.

Also, if you know other ways to get support, I’d love to hear about them.

Thanks for reading!
