[Kusama RFP idea] Priest Chat, A holy anti chat control idea

Project name:

Priest Chat, A holy anti chat control idea

Summary:

This is an idea of utilizing Kusama on-chain identities together with official priest status from the church of Kopimism to develop a chat application, where one user is a priest and one is not. Making it illegal for anyone to listen into your confidential priest<>client conversation.

Potential collaboration between:

Kusama Network and The Missionary church of Kopimism

Why?

Fun way to utilize Kusama, while highlighting the importance of end to end encrypted chat and freedom of speech. With chat control on the rise, this would be a fun application to have/be powered by Kusama.

Narrative:With chat control trending and more surveillance tech on the rise, here is a fun idea that has not been done in a web3 sense. An MVP of a “Priest chat app” has been done several years ago, but dont think the app ever made it production.

What is Kopimism?

The Missionary church of Kopimism is a REAL legal church that has been active in Sweden since 2010, coming from the anti-copyright scene, one of the founders has been active in the polkadot space for several years. Kopimism derives from the words copy and me which are the fundamental roots of the Church’s beliefs and calls for an invitation to copy information.

If you talk 1-1 to a priest your conversation with him/her conversation is protected with confidentiality protected by most legal jurisdictions with strict “you’re not allowed to listen in” laws. In the digital age, if you call a priest it should be illegal for people to listen in to this call. The same thing should apply to a conversation you have over chat with a priest. If a 1-1 chat is between non-priest <> priest. It should be protected under regulation as a confidential priest chat/confession. By collaborating with the church of Kopimism and allowing on-chain kusama priest registrations, this could be a fun and innovate chat app where the user to user messages

Let’s define:

What is a priest that would have this “rights”? Someone that has been given priest status by a registered religious church(like Kopimism).

Note:

I’m not a legal person so double check everything.

How would this work?

Since the church can issue priest status, lets image a chat between User A and User B:

User A:

Has his/her account connected to kusama assethub identity with an approved priest status.

User B:

Does not have a priest status and no identity on Kusama Assethub and talks directly with User A

Priest status issued by the church of Kopimism as a nft/extra verified identity field on kusama ah.

Could this be integrated into the new proof of personhood protocol?

No idea.

Who will develop this?

Idk, this is an idea, do what you want with it, I(flipchan) am happy to help review but dont want more on my plate, so if this sounds like a fun app, you should develop it. Anyone can pick this up and make it into a Kusama RFP.

Religious expression is fundamental in most legal jurisdictions and violating(listening in on a conversation) is against most European laws and can lead to up to 25 years in prison.

Listening and violating religious expression is a big deal, lets utilize this.

Looks like something that can be put it in an RFP and then accept applications (with milestone based budgets) to make this a reality.

To get a bit more context: so at least one person of the 1:1 chat has to become a priest of Kopimism in order for the chat to become legally protected?

Hopefully Gustav or previous/current Kopimism members/organizers/mods could jump into this forum thread. What it seems like is that both users needs to be members of the church(solvable with a good terms of service? Abstracted away in the background for the user) and one needs the priest status.
