Asset Hub Migration 2025

Yes you should run an Asset Hub node. You can run a Relay Chain node separately, if that’s what you want but it’s not necessary. Check the Relay Chain interaction section in the README for the options you have to run a Relay Chain node.
We recommend using --sync warp flag when syncing the Asset Hub node and if you use the default relay config, you can add also -- --sync warp to enable warp sync for the embedded Relay Chain as well, which will significantly speed up the initial synchronization process.

My understanding is that stable2509 corresponds to the unstable2507 release you initially discussed.

It doesn’t correspond. As noted above, this was a special crates release needed for the Asset Hub Migration and Smart Contracts launch. In any case, we recommend to run the latest version of the node.

Also, I use the Polkadot-js API for interactions with Polkadot, but it seems release notes aren’t available for that.

For what do you need the release notes?

Will Polkadot-sdk and Polkadot-js api function correctly without upgrading to the latest version before AHM?

Please upgrade to the newest version.

If they do not work, from which version is operation guaranteed, and when will that version be announced?

Please open an issue on Polkadot-SDK repo in case something shouldn’t work. Furthermore, if something doesn’t work you can still try going one version backwards.

Thank you very much for your response.
I understand that while the Polkadot SDK release version 2509 for AHM, the Polkadot-js API will not release a specific version for AHM; it is sufficient to keep it updated to the latest version.

Any update on block number for the migration on 4 Nov and timings

Yes.

The Polkadot Asset Hub Migration will take place at Block No. 28,490,502, which will happen around 8 AM UTC on Tuesday, Nov 4th. You can see the referendum up for vote here. The migration should be finished in around 6 hours. You can follow the progress on the migration dashboard.

Hi! I’m from Rated Labs and we index staking related data across various networks.

First of all congrats on the migration!

Just wanted to clarify something. Is there a reason why total staking rewards across network have been lower since the migration? It looks ~50% lower.

hey, this is a known issue and the fix will soon be deployed on Polkadot

Thank you for the information. However, I wanted to ask: are there any necessary actions that DOT holders need to take during this migration?
If so, please let us know so we can stay fully updated on the situation.

No, there’s no action needed.

I am using polkawallet for storing kusama ksm, and after migration to asset hub, my balance is still zero. What could be the problem and how to fix it?

Polkawallet is no longer maintained. I strongly recommend using the 12-word mnemonic phrase associated with your account to restore it on any compatible wallet, such as Nova Wallet or Subwallet. Then, you’ll be able to access the funds on Kusama Asset Hub.
