I am looking for advice before considering any OpenGov / Treasury proposal.
On 13 August 2026, I attempted to transfer 72.614 USDT from Kusama Asset Hub to Polkadot Asset Hub using XCM. The transfer completed the intermediary hops, but the final execution on Polkadot Asset Hub failed.
The technical explanation I received is that Polkadot Asset Hub does not have a registration for Kusama’s USDT. The final XCM execution failed with:
UntrustedReserveLocation
The funds were not credited to my destination account and cannot be claimed through the normal claimAssets mechanism, because they never entered Polkadot Asset Hub’s holding register.
According to support, the 72.614 USDT is currently held in Polkadot Asset Hub’s sovereign account on Kusama Asset Hub:

Support explained that directly recovering the USDT from the sovereign account would likely require a Root referendum and may be disproportionate. They suggested that a Treasury refund could be a more practical option, potentially through a small spending/tipper track, but that this depends entirely on voters.
Before doing anything on-chain, I would appreciate the community’s view on:
- Would a Treasury refund equivalent to 72.614 USDT be considered a reasonable request in this situation?
- Should any proposal be made through Kusama OpenGov or Polkadot OpenGov?
- Which track would be appropriate?
- Is there an experienced community proposer who could help verify the correct process, prepare/review the proposal, and clarify the deposit requirements?
- What additional evidence would voters need to evaluate the request?
I am not asking anyone to send funds to me directly. I am seeking advice on the appropriate governance route and would provide all available transaction evidence.
