Adjustment of Polkadot Developer Course Timeline

The OneBlock+ 2025 Developer Education & Community Expansion Plan

Hi,Community! (https://polkadot.subsquare.io/referenda/1638 ) seeks to empower the Polkadot ecosystem by onboarding developers in China through structured bootcamps, technical content, mini hackathons, hackerhouses, and university outreach, with tech content developed in collaboration with PaperMoon. Aligned with Polkadot core contributors, this “learn-to-build” program advances developer skills through hands-on micro-projects and immersive hackerhouses, supported by a detailed budget allocation for operations, content production, and developer incentives.

Update: To ensure our curriculum closely aligns with upcoming protocol upgrades and deploys on the most up-to-date developer stack, we would like to provide an update on the Polkadot developer education program. The original plan was to begin the first bootcamp course series in September 2025. However, after careful consideration of Polkadot’s technical roadmap and developer community needs, we propose adjusting the official launch to mid-October 2025.

1. Rationale for the Adjustment

Polkadot is entering an important new phase with the launch of the 100% EVM-compatible REVM engine—first on Kusama Hub (expected late October), followed by Polkadot Hub (expected mid-December). This milestone directly enables seamless integration of Solidity-based development through widely used tooling such as Foundry and Hardhat.

To ensure that our course content is maximally relevant, practical, and synchronized with Polkadot’s evolving roadmap, we will adjust the launch of the official developer course to align with this timeline. By doing so, we can provide developers with an up-to-date learning experience that mirrors real-world conditions on Polkadot Hub.

2. Interim Community Activities

While the official course start will be slightly delayed, OneBlock+ has actively held a series of online activities and mini hackathons in September to maintain developer momentum and engagement. These included:

  • Introductory warm-up sessions covering blockchain basics, fundamentals, and Polkadot governance/ecosystem.

  • Live online Workshops and Polkadot Open Calls hosted by OneBlock+ in order to address industry opportunities, developer career paths, and Polkadot ecosystem support.

  • As part of our ongoing developer education program, we’re hosting hackathon-style challenges designed to encourage hands-on experimentation and community interaction ahead of the formal courses. So far, we’ve had 99 developers registered, with teams currently forming and coding in progress. We expect around 20–25 valid project submissions by the end of the event. If anyone from the community is interested in joining as a judge, please feel free to reach out, we’d love to have your expertise involved!

3. Our Commitment

We remain fully committed to delivering the high-quality, structured developer education originally proposed. This adjustment is intended to maximize the long-term impact of Treasury-supported activities by ensuring:

  • Relevance: Built directly on the new REVM stack.

  • Efficiency: Developers gain immediately applicable skills with mainstream tools.

  • Alignment: Course content reflects Polkadot’s most current and strategic developments.

We sincerely appreciate the community’s support and understanding. This short-term adjustment will enable us to provide a program that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of developers, ensuring that Polkadot is positioned as a leading destination for Web3 builders in China!
