Web3 Should Never Fail – Let’s Standardize Backup Access

Hello everyone!

I’d like to clarify in advance that this proposal does not require any expenses. So, there will be no unnecessary costs from the treasury either.

Recently, while checking my wallet, I noticed that I still had liquid DOT tokens from the Lido era. And as you know, there are no interfaces to unlock these tokens. Honestly, I managed to unlock them using artificial intelligence directly from the explorer.

However, this issue made me realize a certain flaw- specifically, the lack of a clear contingency plan.

When a website crashes (or when there are restrictions for users from specific regions), people who consider themselves part of Web3 might immediately assume it’s just like Web2. “The servers are down that’s it!” But we all know that a website’s interface is just for convenience. Even if it doesn’t work, we can still manage our assets.

That’s why I propose creating a standard (you can choose a different term) where all Web3 applications include an icon at the bottom (or wherever you deem appropriate) that, when clicked, displays instructions on how to use the explorer in case of a website failure.

Friends! If you think such a standard is necessary, feel free to add your own thoughts as well.

So you propose, if you create anything (for example, DEX, NFT marketplace, any web3 app), you need to explain, how to use it without the UI?

Yes, because in case of a site failure, the web3 user should be able to use his own assets.

This can make sense, but I don’t know if this can be a standard. Probably you can make it widespread, but making it a standard seems difficult. Not everybody will pick it up.
