The Art Collective - ContribNet

What is The Art Collective?

The Art Collective is a new project built on ContribNet.

Like every ContribNet project, The Art Collective ships with a full governance stack out of the box, a project treasury, DotNS domain management (Paseo testnet, Kusama coming), on-chain artifacts, task management, git versioning on-chain, contribution point (CP) tracking, automated contributor payouts and more.

The Art Collective’s first undertaking

The Art Collective has launched its first project: dec_art – a decentralised art gallery managed entirely by contributors on-chain.

The project’s website (controlled via project governance) lets anyone book a gallery display and pay directly on-chain. Funds move into an escrow account and are released to the The Art Collective treasury three days after the booking window closes.

Current status: moving toward decentralisation

Right now The Art Collective is in founder mode — there is only one contributor (the founder). To become a fully decentralised project, more people need to contribute, earn CP, and dilute the founder’s share until governance is spread across the community. At that point, founder privileges are removed and the project belongs to everyone who helped build it.

How you can help

The project is looking for:

  • Developers — frontend, smart contract, tooling (vibe coders welcome)

  • Artists — content creation, curation, visual direction

  • Business developers — sourcing exhibit venues, partnerships, and real-world opportunities

  • Event organisers — planning and coordinating gallery events

  • Technical writers — documentation, guides, tutorials

  • Anyone with an idea — if you see a gap, you can create a task for it

How tasks and contribution points work

  1. Pick up an open task — existing tasks are open for anyone to self-assign.

  2. Propose a new task — if you have an idea, create a task. Once it is accepted by the contributor community, anyone (including you) can assign it and work on it.

  3. Submit your work — completed work is reviewed by existing contributors.

  4. Earn CP — once accepted, contribution points are assigned to your account.

  5. Shape the project — the more CP is distributed across contributors, the closer dec_art gets to full decentralisation.

There is no application process. Find a task, do the work, earn your stake.
