Hello from the BlockDeep team!
We’d like to share an update on the ongoing support and maintenance efforts for Polkadot JS.
Since beginning the maintenance work this year, our team has been actively contributing across all repositories and has achieved the following:
- 210 pull requests
- 19 new features
- 30 security fixes
- 122 releases published
A comprehensive list of our contributions to Polkadot JS can be found here.
As we approach the end of the year, our initial maintenance term is also coming to its conclusion. Accordingly, we will be stepping away from Polkadot JS maintenance and support at the end of this year. We have already communicated this to Parity, and we sincerely thank them for their trust and the opportunity to contribute to such a foundational piece of the ecosystem.
With modern alternatives such as PAPI, which offer stronger architecture and are actively being developed and adopted by the community, we believe that Polkadot JS may not require the same level of ongoing effort moving forward. That said, the decision regarding the future direction of Polkadot JS rests with Parity and the wider Polkadot ecosystem stakeholders, and we will fully respect whatever path they decide.
Over the coming weeks, until year-end, our focus will be mainly on clearing the backlog to the best of our ability and continuing to respond to support issues and bug reports.
Thank you again for the collaboration and support throughout this journey.
We remain committed to the growth of the ecosystem and look forward to contributing in new ways.
