Developing Polkadot Humanoid Robot SDK at Cyberpunk Lab

Hey, everyone :vulcan_salute:

I’m Ivan, part of the project team that’ll be directly working on SDK development if the community votes “aye.” Just wanted to drop by and give a bit more background from my side on what we’re proposing.

I’ve been into robotics all through university up to my PhD, and for the past five years, I’ve been working on robotic stuff at Robonomics. I’ve contributed to about 20 scientific publications at the crossroads of robotics and decentralized techs. The latest one was with colleagues from MIT about a robot artist that sells its paintings and covers its own expenses in crypto (it’s already mentioned above). If you’re curious, you can check out the full list of our articles here:

Beyond theory, I also like creating fun robot demos to show off our stack. For instance, last year I made a robot quest where participants had to guess a seed phrase from the robot’s logs in order to win tokens:

As for the SDK, I’ve got experience bridging robots and Web3. I’ve been maintaining robonomics-ros2 on our GitHub for a couple of years now — basically a set of packages that let Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) components interact with our parachain. This way, robots can make on-chain requests and grab data right from the chain.

I feel our team is more than ready to make this happen, and I really hope the community will give us the green light. Thanks for reading, and I’m looking forward to your thoughts!
