About the Closed Meeting
- Integration process for Polkadot SDK updates to Runtime
- Fundamental discussion around PVQ
Polkadot Cloud
- Elastic Scaling (Rob K)
- in principle ready to launch
- still working on a feature to prevent latency issues. system is resilient to at leat 1/3 of validators misbehaving
- no additional runtime upgrades needed. OpenGov runtime feature to be enabled
- NOMT (Rob K)
- some changes to NOMT to become compatible with Substrate in principle → good progress
- integrating into Substrate → started
- Basti Blocks (Basti)
- going through new considerations. E.g. you have 3 cores and want to create 6 blocks, how do you split up blocks between cores?
Hub
- Smart Contracts (Kian)
- revive live in Kusama
- have found some potential issues, e.g. contract sizes might be to big
- for Polkadot currently exploring supporting PVM and EVM as secondary backend
- upload PVM bytecode or EVM bytecode
- details fleshed out, updates will come to the Polkadot forum
- Migration (Oliver)
- targeting 28th July for Paseo
- prepared runtimes for Polkadot, then have script to migrate the Polkadot runtimes to Paseo; to ensure the migration to run on Polkadot is properly tested first
- have special allowance to test on Paseo before Kusama
- communicated timeline for Polkadot (and Kusama?) might get pushed back because some partners aren’t ready, at least a month
- Kian: On Paseo, there is the Polkadot Asset Hub. There is also Passet Hub, which was added to test early with smart contracts.
Next Spammening
- What would be expectations for the next spammening
- Rob K:
- Kusama: More cores. At least double. But low priority
- Polkadot: would include more risk. have to be more careful. make it lag behind Kusama
BLS BEEFY
- needs proof of posession to make the BLS keys secure. Audits and two RFCs have to pass.
- Hyperbridge needs the BLS BEEFY keys to be fully decentralized
